Artist of the Month for February, 2026 – Roy Harris

Roy Harris is a much‑loved regular at our plein air paint-outs, turning up with his trusty watercolours and an endless supply of good humour. Known for his beautiful, light‑filled paintings, Roy brings both skill and a relaxed, friendly vibe wherever he goes. He’s always happy to share tips, tricks, and the occasional art-world yarn—making him not just a talented painter, but one of the group’s favourite sources of inspiration.

Roy Harris started painting early in his retirement some 20 years ago it was something that he had in his bucket list for a number of years.
After trying his hand with a number of different mediums most of his painting is now done using watercolours. This has proved to be a good medium to use in his favourite activity, painting en plein air which he took up after moving to Mandurah some nine years ago.
Roy says that painting has helped to keep him feeling young and his brain active. He would recommend the activity to any retired person.
Roy is a member of the Mandurah Plein Air Artists.
