Dawn Flaherty

When Dawn moved to Mandurah she found a vibrant art culture and enjoyed taking up watercolour and acrylic painting, charcoal and graphite drawing .
Having been a founding member of the group which has become Mandurah Plein Air Artists, Dawn has turned her energies more to painting ‘en Plein Air’ (on site, in the open air) and enjoys capturing the immediacy of a scene or a moment, finding oil or watercolour paints the better mediums for outdoor use.
Dawn finds inspiration in the natural environment, also the colourful culture both in Australia and overseas. She also enjoys portrait painting and has been involved in community art festivals sketching visitors, or inviting visitors to try their hand at plein air painting.
